Fredericksburg Regional Office
The Office on Youth’s Fredericksburg Regional Division is the main hub of services for the Fredericksburg area. This division serves the City of Fredericksburg and the Counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford, and has served the Planning District since 1989.

Anger Management

Facilitated, classroom-based program

Curriculum includes identifying triggers and cues to anger and completing a conflict trigger scale, developing a plan to keep anger from escalating to aggression, identifying the cost of aggression, and introducing effective coping skills including reframing conflict and decisional balance activities
Community Service Work

Community-based projects supervised by agency facilitators occurring throughout the region in each locality

Projects occur on a rotating basis through partnerships with local nonprofit agencies
Restorative Justice

Facilitated, classroom-based program
-
Curriculum components include Restorative Justice Competency Development as identified within OJJDP and The Balanced and Restorative Justice Project (BARJ) while learning about accountability, empathy, and healthy decision making
Substance Abuse Avoidance Group Education (SAAGE)

Facilitated group education program focusing on the effects of substance use on the brain, coping strategies, building resiliency, cycle of addiction/recovery, and motivation for change

Youth are placed in this program based on a clinical assessment completed during the intake appointment
Substance Misuse and Recovery Support (SMaRS)
-
Facilitated evidence-based program that provides facts, tools and support for those under 21 years of age who have been arrested for alcohol and other drug-related violations
-
Provides accountability with urine drug screens and strategies for taking personal responsibility and making positive, long-lasting behavior changes that will lead to better choices in the future
-
Participants develop an action plan to avoid future problems with alcohol and other drugs while identifying how their use led to violations
Substance Use Disorder Group Treatment

Small group treatment program encourages youth to examine the impact of substance use on their lives and explores ways to make changes to alcohol and drug use

Group sessions focus on dependence, addiction, prescription drug use, and recovery

Youth are placed in this program based on a clinical assessment completed during the intake appointment
Individual Substance Use Treatment

Addresses the same areas as Substance Use Disorder Group Treatment but in an individualized setting, which is recommended based on an assessment completed at intake

Appropriate for the youth who has experienced significant personal trauma and/or displays extreme behaviors coupled with substance use
-
When the youth will benefit from addressing substance use issues in a group of their peers, group and individual treatment may be provided
Vaping Intervention Group

Incorporates Evidence Based Practices to encourage critical thinking skills, while presenting vaping prevention and intervention education materials and activities

Program components include education practices from American lung Association and Stanford Medical School
-
This program is appropriate for middle school students and high school students only using nicotine vapes
The following Diversion Programs allow participants to complete court ordered services within the timeframe specified in their Diversion Contract.

VOISE

Evidence based practices, facilitated program with the focus on increasing self-awareness, self-regulation, accountability, effective decision-making, pro-social skills, and empathy
PASS Program (Positive Alternative to School Suspension)

Programming is focused on developing positive social and cognitive skills while ensuring that the student maintains academic progress

Support students in grades 6-12 by preparing them to return to their home school

Students gain an understanding of the connection between own behavior and positive and negative consequences
-
Personal behavior, transition, and re-entry plans are implemented for each participant
