Programs
Community Service Program (Youth Community Corps)
A structured and supervised community service program for youth that are court-ordered to perform community service. Projects are community-based and occur throughout the Region in each locality. CSW sites are rotated among the three main localities, and pickups may not occur in each locality each week. Youth may not be taken to a CSW site unless they have met with an OOY Case Manager and the appropriate paperwork filled out.
Available to: Fredericksburg City, King George Co., Spotsylvania Co., & Stafford Co.
Participant Cost: Dependent on hours ordered. 8hrs or less – no cost; 8-60hrs - $30; over 60hrs - $50
Active Parenting of Teens
This class is intended to provide support and guidance to parents/guardians of youth enrolled in any of the three main educational services of the Office on Youth. Offered in partnership with Dominion Youth Services, this six week course is designed to provide effective and appropriate discipline, communication, and choice-making skills for parents of teens. Class is mandatory for all client’s parent(s)/guardian(s) referred to Anger Management, Restorative Justice, and either substance abuse service.

Participant Cost: No additional cost
Anger Management
Designed around a research-based curriculum that presents enrolled youth with the awareness, skills, and thought processes necessary to successfully manage their anger. The classes are presented over six weeks in weekly, two hour sessions. Referred youth must attend all sessions to complete program. Parent(s)/guardian(s) of all referred clients must attend the Active Parenting of Teens Class.

Restorative Justice Program
Intended to help the offender focus on responsibility and accountability for their crime. Curriculum covers choices and consequences, appropriate decision-making, and victimization/victim empathy. The classes are presented over six weeks in weekly sessions. Referred youth must attend all six sessions to complete program. Parent(s)/guardian(s) of all referred clients must attend the Active Parenting of Teens Class.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES
All clients referred to a substance abuse service will undergo an assessment process and be placed in one of the following services:
Substance Abuse Group Education (SAGE)
Designed to educate youth about the dangers of taking and using alcohol and other illegal drugs, and to enhance their ability to make better choices about drug use. The classes are presented over six weeks in weekly, two hour sessions. Referred youth must attend all sessions to complete program. Randomized drug screens are given weekly. Parent(s)/guardian(s) of all referred clients must attend the Active Parenting of Teens Class.

Participant Cost: $50.00 (Intake fee - pays for assessment and class)
Project Toward No Drug Abuse (Project TND)
The Project Toward No Drug Abuse is a GOSAP Grant initiative. The TND curriculum is education based (not a treatment model), and targets juveniles on probation that have tested positive on more than one urine drug screen. Classes are presented over six weeks in weekly, two hour sessions. Referred youth must attend all sessions to complete program. Drug screens are given weekly. Parent(s)/guardian(s) of all referred clients must attend the Active Parenting of Teens Class.

Multifamily Substance Abuse Treatment Group
Offered in partnership with Building Healthy Connections, Inc., the MFSA Group is intended to reduce risk factors and strengthen protective factors that are known to predict later alcohol and other drug use, delinquency, violent behavior, and other behavioral problems in adolescence. The MFSA Group emphasizes that young people should experience opportunities for active involvement in family, school, and community, should develop skills for success, and should be given recognition and reinforcement for positive effort and improvement. The MFSA Group focuses on strengthening family bonds, examining individual and family stressors leading to drug abuse and criminal behavior and establishing clear new standards for behavior, helping parents more appropriately manage their teenager's behavior while encouraging their adolescent growth toward independence.
